What is Rally club?

Rally club is all about the sport of rally obedience, an obedience based sport in which participants work their way around a course completing various signed challenges as they go.

There are a number of different forms of rally obedience, at rally club we will be following and using the Talking dog’s rally (TD rally) approach and materials.

Rally club is set up as a fun dog activity, that means there are no expectations or pressures on participants to perform to a certain standard within a certain time.

Courses

Introduction to Rally

This course is a mix of theory and practical work with the focus on providing you with at the least a basic understanding of the sport.  This course occurs periodically.

At  the end of this course you should:

  • Understand the rules of TD rally, specifically those on acceptable and unacceptable  handling practices of your dog around a level 1 course, including puppy and veteran courses.
  • Understand the various types of station used in TD rally level 1 and  how to perform them. Course may not cover all available stations, bur rather groups them into categories of similar stations.
  • Understanding the scoring system used in TD rally competitions.

You do not have to bring your dog to take part in this course.

Upon completion  you will be supplied with a pack of level 1 “pocket signs”so you can practice in your own time.

Rally club

Once you have completed the Introduction to Rally course, then you are welcome to take part in the regular rally club sessions with their dog. This course occurs weekly and you can attend when you like.

As a fun dog activity there is no pressure to perform to, or to have reached a certain standard within a certain time frame, the choice of pace is yours, and yours alone.

At rally club you will have the opportunity to:

  • Practice performing the various TD rally level 1 stations under guidance.
  • Have a go at designing courses for your fellow rally club participants
  • Take part in mock trials.
